STORIES OF AN INSTANT

STORIES OF AN INSTANT

Theme: Reality – Uncertainty

STORIES OF AN INSTANT

exemplifies a variety of perspectives created by the societal circumstances of COVID-19. To stimulate a change of perspective and awake empathy the project includes voice recordings of people affected by the crisis.

By assigning different stories to meaningful objects, STORIES OF AN INSTANT creates separated areas, each defined by a strong symbolic language.

Based on exploration of situated knowledges and the duality of objectivity-relativism, the project challenges one’s view of their own truth – striving to showcase considerable perceptions of others.

Launch: We will launch the project with a gameplay as a demo during ARS Electronica with pre-recorded insights of the team members regarding different aspects of the project as: concept, collaboration in an interdisciplinary context during the corona time, theoretical lens, communicating research through art, interviewing and sound.

Interaction for visitors: The application is available for download and can be viewed with a VR-headset or on a monitor.

INTERDISCIPLINARY APPROACH

RESEARCH – ART – TECHNOLOGY

The work is a collaborative arts and research project between students of Fine Arts and Multimedia at the Ludwigs Maximilians Universität Munich, students of Science and Technology Studies (STS) and Politics and Technology at the Technical University of Munich.

The digital collaboration applies theories and concepts from STS with influences from Feminist Standpoint Theory and Concepts of Care. Facing the unknown settings at the time of uncertainty, care is a technique for us to re-orientate ourselves when engaging with the world.

These inputs urge us to deeper understand processes within society, politics and the economy during the Covid-19 pandemic.
